When I'd finished my quilt with the shadows, a friend of mine saw it and asked me to make one for her Mum in Christmas colours. I really enjoyed doing the first one, so yes, of course I'd make another one. I've been playing about for quite a while with free motion quilting. I've lost count of how many place mats and pot holders I've made. I never quite dared to make the step up to anything bigger. When I'd finished this quilt top, I decided it was now or never, so I gathered all my courage, finally took the plunge and quilted the whole thing in free motion quilting. Once I'd got over the initial "Shall I shan't I" and started the first few stitches, I loved it. The eagle eyed among us could probably pick out a load of places where it could be better, but I'm really pleased with it. I think the overall effect is good and I'll definitely be doing more of it.
