Well, this week, there's been a lethal combination: me having a tidy up and me wanting, for ages, to try out something new. Let me explain. I didn't have any outstanding orders to work on, so I thought I'd use my time wisely(!) and tidy up my sewing room. The actual space I've got to work on has gradually been getting smaller and smaller, so a good tidy up was well overdue. Well, it all started off OK. Just imagine the picture - me making various piles of things everywhere that need to be sorted out. That's all well and good, but then I have to keep stopping to look at a pattern I haven't seen for ages and stroke some material that was hiding in a cupboard. You get the idea right? Anyway, I came across a pile of flannel squares that I'd cut out ages ago and it reminded me that I've been wanting to make a rag quilt for the longest time. So, the piles of stuff got pushed away to one side to be dealt with later, and I got on with my new project. I've never made anything like it before, so it was good fun. The trouble is, I don't think I like it. It's finished, so it won't be hanging around in the "do something with this" section but I don't think I'll be making another one. At least I know now. I'm not sure why I don't like it. It's very soft and fluffy but maybe it's just too different to what I usually do. I must be a creature of habit. But at least I've used up a pile of squares that didn't have a home so it's not all bad. Now, to get back to tidying my sewing room...
